Camping Le Marqueval is a family-friendly park in a green Seine-Maritime setting – have a look at the lush site pics – and is well placed to explore the coast and countryside of Normandy's Seine-Maritime, on the outskirts of Dieppe about six kilometres from the town centre.

Prefer to pedal? The site has bike hire and easy access to local trails too, like along the GR 21 and inland for five kilometres or so to the town of Varengeville-sur-Mer.

As well as the hot tub, sauna and roomy fenced waterpark (with sun loungers and a bar alongside, how rather fab), Le Marqueval has a pond where guests can try their hand at fishing; a playground to keep young guests entertained, a games room, a pétanque court and – site pics time again – ponies for guests to meet on the farm.

Eats are sorted at the food shop and at the snack bar (with TV); and entertainment at the many activities and sports tournaments arranged here by the team during the summer season.

Seaside, countryside and towns are easy to get to from Camping Le Marqueval by foot, bike or car. Its local town of Pourville-sur-Mer is a handsome seaside resort with surfing, fishing, windsurfing and fishing all popular from its scenic beach, set between the cliffs with views out to the Channel.

Tennis, miniature golf, bowling, an equestrian centre, casino, marina and the twelfth century Château de Dieppe are all in the town of Dieppe six kilometres from the site, or you could tee off in a historic setting at the Golf de Dieppe Pourville, dating back to 1897 and one of the oldest golf courses in France.

A bit further afield is the coastal town of Étretat, famed (and rightly so) for its white cliffs so scenic that artists including Monet, Courbey and Boudin came here to paint.
